september: 12vs13

You've thought back to a year ago at a certain point and all you can think is "Well yikes, a lot has changed!"
Thats me right now.
Experience my life through pictures and maybe learn a little.

Wifed up vs Single girl swag. Remember that charming face? Yeah, I miss it too. (Oops. I'm awkward). But last year at this time I would have never imagined to be wearing wide open back shirts and living the single girl life. I do miss having a cuddle buddy, someone to visit and look forward to seeing, and not having to deal with creepos. (Read: Tall McSillypants)

Blonde vs Brunette: Which do you like better?! Everyone at my school now tells me they cannot imagine me as a blonde. I've also gotten told that I look more like a 'wild girl' with blonde hair. Compliment or not? Yeaaaaa no clue either. It probably doesn't even help that I've gained a few pounds shout out to beer. Not. (Note: I have been going to the gym though! Promise!)

Pageant girl diet vs Really Hungry Rachel. Let me clarify, that picture is me. All dolled up. I was getting ready for an awesome weekend all last september by watching what I ate and being active as much as a can. This september, I'm enjoying my pumkin spice lattes early. Hashtag YES!

Soccer vs Football. My school last year didn't have a football team (boo, small schools) so we would go cheer on our friends at their intramural soccer games. This year, we wake up early just to tailgate. And not stay at the game for more than 20 minutes because we stink that much.

GDI vs AXiD. Last year I did not do greek life, but knew I was always meant to be a sorority girl. Not too long ago I became a new member of Alpha Xi Delta and I couldn't be happier! Anyone want to get matching bloggie friend letters!? Maybe kidding. Except I'm excited to spend ALL my money on sorority stuff!

You better be enjoying your pumpkin flavored items for me!

Friday Makeup lovin

Hey, there, beautiful people! My name is Hayley and I normally hang out over at A Beautiful Exchange. If you come and join me for long enough, you will see that I absolutely love exploring makeup and finding new budget-friendly products on the market. My favorite products change on the regular, but I love finding the little gems of the makeup industry. My makeup style is typically very "earthy" and natural, but I love to mix things up as well! I thought I would share a few of my favorite products right now and would love to hear what you guys have been over the moon about recently!

1. Jordana Best Lash Volumizing Mascara: Ok, so this isn't exactly a "summer" product, but is my current all time favorite mascara. I have tried all kinds of drug store mascara, as well as a few high end products, and have found nothing like it. It's super cheap ($10+shipping for 3 tubes on eBay), doesn't clump, and lasts all day!

2. Starlooks Bronzer: Amazing. The end. As you can probably tell, I have extremely pale skin and actually use fake tanner throughout the summer months since I can't spend hours lying by the pool (yay, mom life!). I have used this bronzer for the past month in my contouring routine and it is fabulous. It is long lasting and gives you a perfect, glowy look!

3. Milani Blush: This is perfect for summer, especially if you have tanner skin! It contains a little shimmer, so probably wouldn't be something you would want to wear throughout the summer months, but is perfect combined with a little bronzer. If you are a BB cream user, this would look beautiful and natural--great for cookouts and other outdoor events!

4. Starlooks Palette in St. Tropez: Beautiful. The gold color would look great on any eye color and the darker colors can make a really simple transition from day to night makeup. The price is a little steep, but Starlooks is definitely headed in the right direction with this color palette.

5. Revlon Colorstay foundation: I use high end foundation throughout the year, but wanted something cheap and light that could match my darker color when I use my self tanner. This foundation is amazing. It doesn't last the 24 hours as advertised, but is so light on your skin and doesn't sweat out. This is definitely one of the best drugstore foundations out there and is oil free. Plus, it has SPF 15, which is crucial for summertime makeup!

Finding new makeup is always so much fun, so make sure you share some of your favorites in a comment below!
I would also love to have you stop by my blog, follow me on Twitter, or send me a little email introducing yourself! I love "meeting" new people, so don't be shy!

first of fall, whuddup!

First day of fall was spent outdoors: lunch in the city, combat boots&big sweaters, anthropology displays (that I wanted to instagram nonstop), cold weather, cute puppies, monograms, and good company.

How did you bring in the new season?

9/23/13

Yes, I'm a blogger.

Hey pretty people of America, how are ya?
I'm gooooood thanks for asking!

Being that I am ALWAYS so busy and ALWAYS scheduling posts weeks in advance, I want to let ya know wuzzup. I mean we all know I am the least exciting person, but hey Erin always says she loves living her college years again vicariously through me, so I'll do my best to keep it funky fresh.

-Have you ever heard of HerCampus? Yes, go click that! If ya don't know its like blog world for college girls who clearly aren't as cool to start their own baby blog in the own name. KIDDING. But it is seriously an awesome way for girls to 'lift off' so to speak for blogging. ('Lift off'? Rachel who are you? Sorry I'm just tired ok!!!!) I have always been interested in checking it out so I found some connections and blasted off! (...really? Space terms?) I got chosen to participate in writing campus cutie column! I am so excited but lets be real we all know my weird writing voice so instead of posting a question then answer format, I added my own voice to it, which was too fun!
Shameless promo here: Want to read my campus cutie column?! Follow HerCampus | Millersville on Facebook! YAY!

-As you know I got into a sorority, it's so fun! It takes up a lot of time but so worth it, I've already made so many great friends! I also do study hours MWF and it stinks, at times but I get my work done and it's pretty solid. No complains. Well, sort of because I miss having lazy time.

-I just found out/planned a trip to Ohio/Canada in November to go to a great friend of mines fraternity formal. Why Canada? Drinking age. #notsorry. I wish I was going to be near ma gurl Erin though because does anyone know how long I've been dying to meet this girl who is like Beyonce to be in blog world? Yea I want to meet her! Hey Erin, I'm sorry I'm creepy!
Blondie? Why? Psh, don't ask me either.

-This past weekend I went home, and I skipped class today (oops!) Ever felt randomly home sick? I just needed to come home because I miss my family so much, and of course sushi. Literally sushi. Yum. Like yeaaaaaa I've gone to camp and been away for three weeks and same with traveling countries without my parents but lets be real, I'm a homebody. I guess I didn't realized how much I missed my family until I don't see them for a month.

-STORY TIME. I swear read this. Are you a blogger? You'll enjoy it. So I take a computer sciences class. And truth be told, I had to google what 'computer sciences' was once I entered the lecture hall the first day of class. On thursdays, we have lab (WHICH STINKS) but this weeks lectures were all about HTML. Like hello I know what CSS and <b> is!!!!!!! I'm a blogger duh. So our lab period is 2 hours long and I was done after 45 minutes; we had to create an HTML website. My professor saw me leaving and ask how I finished so early (he thought I cheated...dude wanted to give me a big fat zero), and I just told him Yep I have experience I'm a blogger. Shit, he so hates me. Well I'll be damned if I end up with anything less than a B+.

-As for guys go? I think I'm better off single..................
#foreveralone

It's only the end of september but I'm so ready for november! Hello Ohio/Canada and Universal!

All in all, family is the greatest gift ever.

9/20/13

Hey y'all! I'm Tiffany Khyla, and I blog at d'Asti at Tiffany's, which is a lifestyle blog documenting my transition from college life to corporate life. I mostly write about love, books, traveling, and randomness. Every once in awhile, I throw in a DIY or a recipe. I'm so excited to be guest posting on Sunshine and Sinatra today. Rachel and I were Cara Box partners, and now I feel like we're for real friends. I stalk her life via all all social media outlets (insta, twitta, etc.), but I promise I'm not a creeper. People are always telling me that I look young then when I complain about it, they're like "You'll be thankful one day," (ME TOO TIFF, ME TOO!) but this isn't one day, people!

I actually see both sides of the spectrum sometimes. I've gone to restaurants with my sister where people ask us "Who's older?" We've also gone to grocery stores where people ask if I'm her mother, so that's not cool. Do I really look like the teen mom type?! Anyway, some days, I just like embracing my inner child (but really this is my every day life). How do I do that, you ask? I watch cartoons. Not so much newer cartoons. (Honestly, I tried to think of a cartoon that is airing now, and I can't think of a single one. I even did a Google search, and hadn't heard of any of them. Maybe I am old...) I'm talking reruns of Scooby Doo (aka the best cartoon that was ever created). photo 2c15f1c7-363f-4517-a74c-1ac8155986e7_zpsb8363720.jpg

I love Barbie. I don't play with (or collect) the dolls or anything like that. I used to when I was younger. Now though, I still want a Barbie Jeep. I never got one. I'm pretty sure they're cooler now, so I still one. I can still fit in it, can't I? Plus I want to go see Barbie's Dream House in Florida. I mean, a part of my childhood come to life! photo 2677e582-8b01-4bfc-9c21-2a8d57ac5cd7_zps093c9d7b.jpg
{via}
I watch Mary-Kate and Ashley movies. Some may think it's pathetic how much I've mentioned MKA on my blog considered I'm in my early 20's, but I love them and all their movies. My childhood idols that I just can't seem to shake. Every once in awhile, I'll break out the MKA party vids and sing along or watch one of their full-length movies (Winning London and Passport to Paris for some travel inspiration).

I read young adult books. I'm pretty sure every book I've written about on my blog has been a YA book, and I'm not ashamed about it. I'm currently writing a book, and it's a YA novel. I guess I'm still in that mindset even though I'm supposed to be an adult and stuff. photo b2993802-060f-4301-94cf-cf7dbbce9b6b_zps8da04c4f.jpg

I wear a tutu at every available opportunity. I own two tutus, and I just wore one last week at the Run or Dye 5k I did, just because I felt like it. I love tutus. I was never a ballerina or in dance or anything like that, so I never got to wear them, and now I can, so I will, and people will continue to think I'm 12.

Girls are stupid: Sophomore Year Observations

This is pretty stereotypical. and I'm clearly a girl but I want to be honest here. So maybe this is me venting more of my frustration. Am I sorry? Nah.

I guess last year, and part of the reason I wasn't happy with school was because I wanted to see my boyfriend every weekend. I loved his school/friends/life and wanted it to be my own. Luckily, transferring this semester has been the best decision I've made, even without him in the picture
It's been pretty stinky to see girls not want to go out because they're boyfriends told them they shouldn't. Or even that their boyfriends told them they couldn't wear a certain type of shirt.

I see girls, into only their third week of college, and already considering transferring because they are never here and always with their boyfriends

Excuse me while I wear this to a party:
Ladies got to live a little.

In other news...things I've observed/don't understand as a sophomore in college:

-When people drive by you when you are fully clothed and scream rude phrases at you. Do you not see me in a turtleneck sweater, pants, and boots?

-Walking everywhere is the best. Except I do use my car to go off campus to eat normal people food.

-You're not letting me into your party because you are full? You just let 5 girls in in front of you. and excuse me, I am now a sorority girl.

-It's still okay to upload party pics with red cups. Well thats what I think according to my facebook newsfeed...

-Studying around others can be productive. While writing this post I'm sitting with 3 other friends of mine and we are all in our own worlds jamming to some random pandora station but #workhardplayhard right? Something like that...

Here's to stuffing my face all the time.
Single girl swag out!

Mermaids, but not the scary kind.

Alright mermaids aren't scary, you're right. However, I did try to watch that creepy apparently not real documentary on mermaid sightings on Animal Planet (I think it was? Don't quote me) and I could not even get past the first five minutes. I swear I wish I was messing with you. Anyway, we all love making new bloggie friends in the blog world (if you don't....why are you here?!) so check out my lovely sponsor lady below!

What's up?! My name is Carolina, and I'm the girl behind the awesome gif usage, college and fashion posts on socalmermaid.blogspot.com!

My blog name is SoCalMermaid for two simple reasons. 1. I live in San Diego and spend a lot of time with Los Angeles, and other various places within the SoCal area. 2. I like mermaids! Plain and simple, I love SoCal and I would prefer to be a mermaid over human any day.

My baby blog is only about 6 months old and consists of college and fashion. As a blogger I do talk about myself and my opinions (obviously-it's my blog) but I also talk about movies, my internships, and boys. I tend to get smitten with the boys pretty easily!

A little bit more about myself? Well read my about me on my blog! I'm short and sweet. Say dude to much and have an uncontrollable need to please people. I'm Mexican-American, just turned 21, not a big party girl but a pretty laid back one. I love my doggies, and family comes first. School is insanely important to me, but I have no idea what I want to do with my life so I'm studying fashion. So how about you give my blog a chance and follow me through my college years?

what i've been up to! (+bloghop)

Here's what I've been lovin on these past few weeks:

MSU Gear. Go green! I don't live in michigan but I have so many friends that go to MSU so its acceptable. Sorry Ash, I know you are a UMich gal!

Stole this gem off of Chris's insta. Yea the guy who won the bachelorette. I wonder how thats still workin' out....Anywho we all know my love for facial hair and puppies so this is forever saved on my phone.

Honestly, I couldn't even resist. I am in love with Ashleigh's big little bows. When I have a future big I need to work this one out somehow into my bank account. I found some cute one's on etsy while I was procrastinating. I mean studying.

My monogram hat ordered off of The Preppy Pineapple. You know you can always go with the super safe (and expensive) option of Marley Lilly. Which in reality, isn't too too bad but I decided to find a shop on etsy that was cheaper (we know I love to save my money when I can. If I remember...). If you've been dying for some monogram hats in your life, check out the Preppy Pineapple!
The sunset from my new schools library on the 6th floor! Friends and I were exploring the building (it's new!) and we went on every floor to try and get the perfect view. The very few top stories didn't have any views, just small boxes of windows but we went to the sixth and caught the perfect view, and fully watched the sunset. Have I mentioned to you I LOVE my school? Not sure...;)
I revamped Carolina's blog the other week and I'm in love. I can't stop going back to it just to stare. And it's not even my own blog. How cute is it?! Seriously, I'm so proud of it!
Lastly, you can't go wrong with some nail fun, sunny days, and Orange is the New Black!
-Can we talk about the ending?! WTF PIPPER! I also heard...SPOILER ALERT...crazy 'Pennsatucky' is back next season though! When will season two come out!?
-I have baby hands and clearly baby nails.  I love darker colors on my nails just because it makes it look less short (I think) and more trendy (my opinion of it). I decided to go bold and get those gel sticker on thing-ys (Sorry I suck at remembering names of products) but I think it looks so cute! I just stink at taking artsy pictures of my body parts....(How do those girls take pretty pictures of their stomachs and legs?! Gurl, please.)

Need trendy dorm decorating tips? (guest post)

Hello everyone! My name's Carrie and I blog over at Lego House. I'm so happy to be doing this guest post for Rachel! She did a guest post for me a few weeks ago when I was out of town and I definitely owed her one (:

Since both me and Rachel, and I'm pretty sure some of her readers are too, getting ready for the fall semester to start, I thought I'd do a little post on some different decoration ideas for dorm rooms! I think we can all agree that getting to decorate your dorm room is always the most exciting thing about heading back to school!

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9

1. Postcards A few weeks ago when I was in Maine, me and my friends stopped at a thrift store and found so many unique post cards. So we all bought a few to put up on our walls. For each post card only being $0.75, it's an easy and cheap decoration!

2. Vintage Posters I'm a huge fan of vintage posters and last year I had some posters of vintage Vogue covers on my wall and they looked amazing! You can never go wrong with vintage!

3. Watercolors I found these amazing water colors of ballerinas on Etsy the other day (seriously, the website has the greatest finds), and being a dancer, I'm absolutely went crazy for them! I think water colors are also a really easy thing to make (that is if you're artsier than I am) but are also really classy.

4. Flags/Banners I lived in Thailand for six years so I have a huge Thai flag that I put up in my dorm room. If you have a favorite country you've ever been to or from where you're from, I totally recommend getting a flag to put up! And I also know people who put up banners from specially events in their rooms (i.e. a few of my sorority sisters have hung up banners we've made for Greek Week).

5. Typography You can find plenty of different typography pieces on Etsy, but they're also really fun to make on your own! You just get to play around in Photoshop with different fonts and colors and come out with really neat things! I've made a few of my own with a few of my favorite quotes to hang up in my room this year.

6. Wall Mural I've never had a wall mural in my room, but after finding this tutorial, I really want to! Sadly, I don't think I'll have enough room in my dorm this year to hang one up but hey, I've got two years left at college!

7. Washi Tape Shelves Putting Washi Tape on the side of your book shelves is a really easy way to brighten up your room. My dorm room last year had all way walls and shelves so lining the edge of shelves with Washi Tape was a nice pop of color!

8. Mason Jars I think Mason Jars are perfect just for overall tidy-ness. You can put your pens and pencils in them at your desk or you can also store little knickknacks in them to help tidy up your space.

9. Paint Swatch Art I found this tutorial last summer before I moved into my dorm and I fell in love! I went and got some paint swatches from the store that match the colors of my bed set and arranged them in a frame for some nice modern art for my room (:

My final tip for decorating your dorm is to go with the old wedding cliche of "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue". Have something old to decorate your room with to remind you of home. Have something new just for the excuse to go shopping and to also have thing that YOU picked out for your room. Have something borrowed, I have a few things from friends and my sisters, so you don't get too home sick. And for having something "blue", I mean that you should have something that isn't the color of everything else in your room just so your room doesn't get too dull and there's something exciting for the eye!

Are you a rebel?

Skipped class? boy I hope not
Ever do anything your parents told you not to do but you did it anyway?

I mean, I'm sure that was me at one point just nothing to extreme because I've never been to much of a wild child.

However, sophomore year of high school I begged my mom for a second piercing because I thought  it was cool since everyone did and and I just wanted to be trendy. Jeez mom, I mean do you want a teenager who is not cool or something?!

Back to my point. I was between searching for sorority stuff and jewelry when I came across Catchy Things Etsy. Mia is a teenager who is super trendy and cool. Like have you seen her shirt dress? I wish I was crafty and smart enough to design something like this!
(via twitter)

I came across her gold cuff because I've been dying to see myself with a cartilage piercing, although I know I would never cave in and get a real one. I AM A BABY. okay!?
I finally got mine in the mail the other day and I was so excited! She even added a heart next to my name. It's the little things okay!? I raced up to my room and cut it open!
Ugh I can feel the coolness running off of me. #Brushingthedirtoffmyshoulder, Brb.

She even was so cute and added hair ties, for free, which was awesome because I was seriously thinking about trying them out the other day! I've been using it now and I love how cute they look! She also sent me a blue and white one, sup sorority colors!

Free ahir ties cuz yolo? Does she know that we are twins because I say because yolo too often, too?!

Make sure you check out her shop! I can't stop looking and feeling trendy with my cuff!
Thanks for being awesome, Mia!
Check out her twitter & etsy!
