You Deserve a Sexy Summer! | Sponsored

After the ridiculously yuck weather on the East Coast this winter, we all deserve to take full advantage of the heat this summer. And yes, that includes sizzling hot sex (yo to the lo). It’s basically science that summertime is the best time for lovin’. Everyone is more relaxed, we all wear less clothing, and we have more free time. Maybe you landed an internship with minus the freedom of skipping off to the beach to scope out the hot surfer dudes. First of all, way to be responsible. Internships are great resume and reference builders. And hey, maybe there’s a hottie who’s also interning. Not suggesting you do anything unethical, but perhaps he has some friends he can introduce you to. Just sayin’ *winky face*.

If you’re in a committed relationship, the warm weather can work for you too. In an article for Chatelaine, relationships therapist Joan Marsman reminds us that “Romance is a lifestyle.” The article, Four Ways to Inspire Summer Romance with Your Partner, offers tips that apply all year-round. She encourages breaking your routine, and summer is prime time to do so! The obvious would be to take a trip together, but if that’s outside your budget, keep it simple. Take advantage of the longer days by just spending more quality time together. Less class means less homework. The slower pace will put you both at ease, which is sure to lead to more romance. And who doesn't enjoy that?

If you’re single be open to the possibilities. The warm summer nights are electrifying and anything goes. Plus people are ready to awaken from their hibernating state and get loose. If you don’t know where to meet someone, literally go anywhere outside—it’s impossible to not meet a guy...or like ten. The beach, backyard barbecues, outdoor concerts, even dive bar patios (#trendy)—all are great places to turn up the heat. Her Campus points out that a single summer doesn’t mean a man-free summer. Au contraire, according to The 5 Best Things about Being Single This Summer, if you’re not tied down to one you can have a good time with many! Just be safe and it’s sure to be a hot one!

Whether you’re taken or single, make this summer one you’ll never forget. If you’re looking to spend your break relaxing with your partner, get things started with a massage gel that doubles as a lubricant. Try new things, inside and outside of the bedroom. One woman who takes that expression to heart is Dr. Kat, resident sexologist at Adam and Eve. Dr. Kat encourages outdoor sex and in this video she shares tips for where and how to do it right. She suggests keeping a blanket on hand in case the opportunity for an impromptu love sesh arises. This brings all new meaning to fun in the sun and is sure to make lasting memories for you and your guy. Hello scandalous!!!!

Even if you have a full-time internship or are taking a few classes over summer session, don’t forget that this could be your last real summer. Do you want to look back twenty years from now and regret? Maybe your summer plans don't involve a dude, but whatever your goals, get out there and get happy! Whether it’s a summer of romance, hook-ups, or reading by the pool, enjoy it.

Single or taken, make it yours mama's!

Two Chainz ain't got nothin' on us...

I was at my sister's just this past weekend and picked up the chunkiest of necklaces. I wrapped it around my neck and basically laughed because it was comparable to a 5 pound weight tied around my neck. They clearly don't call Two Chainz that for nothin'. I got home and decided I need to figure out where I could obtain a two pound necklace. The answer? Chloe and Isabel.

When browsing C&I, I learned that each merchandizer has the chance to make their own money from what they sell, which I absolutely love, considering I'm on the verge of #starvingartist/college student myself. The more effort and promotion they put into their sales, they obtain great networking skills as well as money to help expand their future rendezvous.

If you've seen my style, I'm too too simple of a person. I enjoy the dainty rings/bracelets and ever so noticeable necklaces. I think I own all of one chunky necklaces, but I've really been on the hunt for more! This spring, I'm oddly interested in changing my look from everyday prep to find me on tumblr I'm a hipster. I'm daring to try new looks, #ArmCandy and all.

WordPress plugin

The chosen one? This bad boy. Seascape statement collar necklace. Is on my must have list, since I'm all about those under the sea pastels, here's what I would pair it with:
Top: Madewell | Pants: J.Crew | Necklace: Chloe and Isabel | Sandals: Nordstrom

Chloe and Isabel not only has the cutest of jewelry, but they help a girlfriend out. And like wine, we like helping our gal pals. So what do ya say? Pop on over.

Chloe and Isabel is the new NY Times [It's cool, I won't tell], so browse a bit and let me know when you find something you like!

I was compensated for this post in the form of an item and/or a payment, however all opinions are my own!

B*tch, I don't know your life...YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US.

If you're here, it's either because some tempting tweet directed you to this post, or you are a reg around here. If you are a regular, congrats. I think we all love gloating about ourselves thinking this will inspire you to want to be our new bff or just because well, we know ourselves better than anyone so why not chat about something we know like the back of our hand! Also, have you met Allison yet? Here's your chance!

1. Do you have any siblings?

A: Yes, I have two younger sisters :)

R: Yes! Younger brother and a rockstar of an older sister. She blog/designs over at The Atelier!

2. Why blogging? Why not like, rollerblading club?

A: Well for one, rollerblading is hard work. I used to all the time when I was younger. Tried it recently and could barely go down the street. Way too hard. I'd always wanted to try blogging. Being a marketing major in college and having just recently graduated I had no job and nothing to do. What better way to showcase my skills than by starting a blog? Plus my family likes to keep up with my life and I've been told I'm a pretty good writer (not to brag or anything)

R: Not sure why I said rollerblading club, maybe just because I've always thought how cool it is to rollerblade. I wanted to around campus and my friends judged on, so no go with that plan OR the creation of a club. I blog because I like to write and I can do it in bed.

3. Favorite movie quote/lyric and why:

A:Wow this is a hard one. Most of my favorite movie quotes are so so random and nobody would get it. Umm..."Bitch I don't know your life!" -Baby Mama.....aka I could quote the whole movie.

R: Anything mean girls. YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US. Best movie to quote ever. And I do it quite often, even on my instagrams.

4. My favorite holiday to celebrate is....

A: My favorite holiday to celebrate is Christmas! It's the MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! Everyone is generally nicer and it's cold outside and everything is just great (plus presents)

R: My birthday. Please find me someone who doesn't love all the notifications/loving and exposure of really ugly pictures of themselves. Also, presents.
Snapchat selfies during blate with Lauren (we sort of celebrated my birthday...so it counts!)

5. Favorite Place to visit:

A: My favorite place to visit is Pittsburgh. J and I have made it an annual thing (two years and counting) to go see a Steelers Game. The past two years we saved up cans and spare change to pay for everything once there! It even snowed last time we went which was super exciting for this southern girl!

R: Israel. Prettiest place on earth. 'Nuff said.

6. Your favorite family tradition

A: My fave family tradition would have to be family vacations. I know I'm probably getting too old for these things, but every time we get together it's bound to be loads of fun, aggravation, and good stories for later.

R: Def agreeing with Allison on this one! I LOVE going on family vacation (although I keep getting older), it's always the best of time together because were usually relaxed (most times...sorry dad) and we can just joke around. Almost all of our "family insiders" (you have those too, right?) come from vacations. We go to florida at least once every year, and it's always bound to be fun. Except when you and your brother both get the stomach virus on thanksgiving.......
7. Sum up what you've learned/gained from blogging in 5 words:

A: Better writing skills/new friends

R: Go on dates that suck (SoICanBlogAboutIt!!!!)

Make sure to say pop over and stalk chat away with Allison!

Tequila and Sunshine in the City

It's not what you think, and for that I'm sorry. I'm a grade A tease. If I was going to give you an all inclusive girls weekend in the city.....welllll lets just say it wouldn't make it past my own god damn hands. But, we can all dream right? At least thats what I think pinterest is for. Today, I wanted to introduce to you two really awesome ladies in land of blog. The cliche line here is that although bloggers are so different, you can really see the similarities between them just from chatting. Meet your new bait. And by bait I mean people to stalk on social media. Because I'm guilty of that when reading about someone on someone else's blog. A is Alexes from Lexe in the City and L is Liv from Tequila and Inkpens. Go wild. Read a little. Stalk a lot, and learn some.

1. How do you like your cereal?

A: Crunchy, but I hate milk!!! So I add lots of peanut butter to it.

L: I like my cereal with 2% milk, but still as dry/crunchy as possible. So I eat cheerios at lightning speed. Except for life cereal, which must be as soggy as possible. I just lost all my followers I'm so gross.

R: Ok, so this is a super personal question. Meaning, everyone ALWAYS judges my answer. I like ALL cereal super de duper soggy. Like, gross soggy. I let it sit there for like more than 5 minutes. I hate the times I eat cereal and its crunchy. Not for me.
I mean, If I'm being picky I'd rather not eat cereal. Oops.

2. If you could be in any romantic movie, what would it be, who would you play, and why?

A: Easy,  I love The Great Gatsby and The Notebook.  I would play Rachel McAdams so I could kiss Ryan and play Carrie Mulligan so I could also kiss Leo lol ... Don't tell my husband lol

L: OH MY GOD. How can I pick just one!? I'm a true sucker for movies like The Notebook and The Lucky One, but I would want to be Hannah in Crazy, Stupid, Love because I'm obsessed lately and RYAN GOSLING IN THAT MOVIE HELLO. And Hannah got her shit together before focusing all her attention on a dude. Also it's just more realistic than Nicholas Sparks.

R:  I mean I'm a grandma and obsessed with Nights in Rodanthe so i totes wouldn't mind being the old people trapped in nowheresville Carolina and be forced to spend time with each other and obviously fall in love because if we didn't, it wouldn't be a love story. Probably a thriller/horror movie. Like think about the plot minus love, it would be quite frightening.

3. In your eyes, what is a post you will always feel good about publishing?

A: Post that are real, raw, and truthful. I pride my blog off giving my readers my good and my bad.

L: A post I will always feel good about publishing is my "Quarter Life Crisis" post because I will one day look back at it and fondly remember when I was a struggling 20-something. No but seriously, it really helps to have an outlet for those kinds of things, and what better way to find myself than through blogging??

R: I'm really happy I was able to share with blog land the time I went to Poland and visited concentration camps. I know a lot of bloggers aren't jewish or know minimal about the jewish religion so I think it was awesome to get fab feedback for something I care about so much.

4. Your dream job (besides full time blogger, obv) would be...

A: A singer!!!! I came out of the womb singing lol. Music is what makes my world. It's speak to me and it's something that I can always count on.

L: My dream job would be to review concerts for a living. I've literally ALWAYS wanted to do that.

R: If you've never read my about me page, which I will assume you haven't so I can write this...I would LOVE to work for Miss Universe Organization in their PR department. Dream come true.

5. During the summer we can find you...?

A: Well last summer it was inside my office without a tan, but since we are moving back to California In two-ish month, you can find me at the beach surfing or hanging by the pool!
L: During the summer you can find me at every outdoor concert I can get my hands on a ticket for, at Kennywood, or sipping margaritas at my favorite bars with outdoor seating.

R: Either yelling at kids at a day camp, sitting with my boyfriend the fan and some netflix to relax, and even at the beach getting that lobster tan brewing ;) Also phillies games in terrible back sweat weather? IM SO THERE.

6.What is the best blogging tip you could ever give?

A: Be yourself. Always. And don't blog just to blog.

L: Best blogging tip I could give is REACH OUT! It's so fun to connect with other bloggers and you never know what opportunities you'll find!

R: Make blog friends. You'll never regret it for a second.

Ya learn something new everyday

Hey there. Today's a new day (thank gosh), and I want you to meet Melissa! One of the coolest bloggers in all the land. She's a canadian lady (which is where I'll be friday!!!!...except about 15 hours away!), but can instantly make you giggle. Check 'er out!

-Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to get my thoughts down and to force myself to write every day. I really love to write but was really bad at putting aside time to do it and this was a way to keep me on track. I wanted to share my life and my experiences and hope that maybe someone else out there felt the way I did. I wrote about this in my first post

-What is a funny story your friends would tell about you if we met them?
What story wouldn't they tell? (jk but not really) They would probably tell you how stupid I can be sometimes. We were out for drinks one night, a good ol girls night, and planning to go back to my best friend's apartment for some wine and a movie. Someone said we should get face masks and I got all excited and legit said "You think there will be a lion one? Omg we definitely need to take pictures!" Nobody understood me. We went to the dollar store to buy these said face masks when I realized they meant masks for facials... not for stupid pictures. So I go running up to them with a cat mask and they were super confused and then I realized what was happening and they've never let me live it down. Guys I just wanted to take silly pictures in animal masks!

-If you could go back in time a year or two, would you have changed anything? Why or why not?
100% no. I would change nothing. Everything that happened in the past two years has led me to this place right now and I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm a stronger, happier person who finally has her ish together (somewhat).

-Whats your favorite part about blogging?/Do you have any tips?
My absolute favorite part about blogging is meeting so many interesting people! It's honestly like its own little family. A tight knit community of love and support. It's amazing. My biggest tip would be to reply to your readers. You never know what friendships might bloom.

-Favorite TV show
I cannot pick just one! But I would have to say my top 3 are The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, and Criminal Minds.

-Favorite lyric/song
It always changes. Music makes me feel so good and I'm always finding new songs and artists I can relate to. At this point right now the lyrics that resonate most with me are from John Mayer's "Perfectly Lonely".

       "Nothing to do

Nowhere to be
A simple little kind of free
Nothing to do
No one but me
And that's all I need"

FYI: I'm happily single and really enjoying my life for the first time in years!

Amen to that, sista friend. #Preach

Mermaids, but not the scary kind.

Alright mermaids aren't scary, you're right. However, I did try to watch that creepy apparently not real documentary on mermaid sightings on Animal Planet (I think it was? Don't quote me) and I could not even get past the first five minutes. I swear I wish I was messing with you. Anyway, we all love making new bloggie friends in the blog world (if you don't....why are you here?!) so check out my lovely sponsor lady below!
**

What's up?! My name is Carolina, and I'm the girl behind the awesome gif usage, college and fashion posts on socalmermaid.blogspot.com!

My blog name is SoCalMermaid for two simple reasons. 1. I live in San Diego and spend a lot of time with Los Angeles, and other various places within the SoCal area. 2. I like mermaids! Plain and simple, I love SoCal and I would prefer to be a mermaid over human any day.

My baby blog is only about 6 months old and consists of college and fashion. As a blogger I do talk about myself and my opinions (obviously-it's my blog) but I also talk about movies, my internships, and boys. I tend to get smitten with the boys pretty easily!

A little bit more about myself? Well read my about me on my blog! I'm short and sweet. Say dude to much and have an uncontrollable need to please people. I'm Mexican-American, just turned 21, not a big party girl but a pretty laid back one. I love my doggies, and family comes first. School is insanely important to me, but I have no idea what I want to do with my life so I'm studying fashion. So how about you give my blog a chance and follow me through my college years?
