Rittenhouse Square: To do

Hat: H&M
Top: Forever 21
Shorts: H&M
Crossbody: H&M (similar)
Shoes: Marshalls

There are weeks where I spend day after day, driving over the sacred scary bridge to enter the world of the place where the constitution was signed. A tourist attraction for many, but a second home to me. Rittenhouse Square is a place for everyone. The bloggers, the hipsters, the couples, the elites -- even you and me.

If you're ever in the area there are places you must check out:
Food: Parc / Crazy Sushi / Marathon Grill
To Do: Walk the Park (usually to people watch/see a free concert) / Blo Out Bar
Shop: Madewell / Barnes & Noble / Free People / Anthropology
Coffee: Elixr / Parc

Quick and easy access to Swann Fountain and Love Park

What else would you add to the list of things to do in Rittenhouse?

Summer is HERE!

It's 136% true that summer is here and I put on my excited pants about it. Here's what I've been up to!

Interviews in the city, my favorite place to be. Post interview, I had had had to hit up my caffeine fix and I admittedly got lost in the city, since it's in a part I don't explore often. I truly felt Carrie Bradshaw like circa Carrie Diaries. Intern life in the city? Truly a dream. Also holler at houndstooth dresses, always a plus.

Although I was #blessed with a shopping spree at a local mall, you can always find me in TJ Maxx. Granted, I just wanted to get in the dressing room to take an OOTD because starbucks. Good reasoning, right?

This past weekend was spent down the shore. I can't say it was the definition of relaxing since I was there for other purposes that did not include relaxing as one of the things on my to-do list. However, I got burnt unintentionally (which will turn into tan YAY...don't get mad). However, I did pick up some awesome shots you can find on my instagram, and got a totally awesome TBT gift of a polaroid camera! I cannot wait to use it on my blate tomorrow!

The other day, I hit up J.Crew and their amaze sale. However, of course, I picked up the only black item J.Crew would ever house. I ended up with an 8 dollar baseball cap, and couldn't be happier.

What have you been up to?

Haunted Divine Lorraine?

Bare with me for a moment when I become conceited for about .2 seconds. I definitely think I have an eye for art. Granted, I am FULLY aware that there are people who have a sharper eye than I do (weird, cause I don't need glasses ya know?!). My favorite part about art is that theres really no right way to do it. Art to me, could be junk and shit to you.

Like I've mentioned in about one hundred and seven of my posts, I love being in the city. So much loving that if marrying the city of Philadelphia was a thing, I think I'd do it. Maybe I'll just stick to attempting to be mayor or something. Seriously Philly has not been called 'Filthadelphia' for no reason.

So history lesson! Whenever I leave Temple University, I always pass the "Divine Lorraine Hotel" also known as the abandoned building that I don't understand why because despite the graffiti (which I don't understand, either, obviously...OR HOW THEY DO THAT) I love the style of it. After my really good mood morning drive on Thursday, and a good ole post on my instagram, I couldn't resist wanting to learn more about it.  #Broadstreet

Next, nerdy me started to creep on it via google images. I learned that it was one of the first hotels (originally appartments in industrial 1800's) in the early 1940's to integrate any race and religion at a hotel, as well as not allowing cursing, smoking, OR eating in your own room. (Originally it was an all-white hotel.) They had a central kitchen/dining area for that! All about that modesty, considering men and women couldn't even sleep on the same floors. A reverend at the time took over the hotel, and turned the top floor into an auditorium where he held services.

Now? It's just an abandoned building. But I'm COMPLETELY dying to go in there and see what its like. Who's with me adventures? No, seriously. I'm looking at you Cat or Monica. Or literally anyone who lives near (far works too!!!)

The best form of birth control

Flashback to three years ago. Do you remember who you were friends with, what your 'signature style' was, or even what your favorite pair of shoes were? Ok, good. Now travel back to 2014 in your time machine (COME ON ITS 2014....) and think about life. Were things the same as they were three years ago, or different?

For me, I had a blast from the past this weekend.

1. I staffed my youth group convention, the one where you stay up all night and troll around in hopes you will be able to find a fetus couple sucking face in the back of a sketchy hall way and/or closet. Let it be known, contrary to what you might think, that was never me. I always wonder what the eff would motivate people to want to be sharing space with another human because they or you might have bad breath. It's like 4 am people COME ON.

Alright so besides being a form of birth control for teens....

P.S: Gd Bless Jenny's soul. Have fun breaking up over 600+ teens at convention next week. May gd be with you.  And some small sample sized bottles of wine. Kidding.....!

2. So, while tired and rounding the corner at like 3AM I ended up blasting Drunk In Love (a given), and was delusional. I also considered eating pizza. I'm glad I didn't.

3. Speaking of pizza, we ordered 100 pizzas. It was like 500 dollars. Excuse me what. The worst part was that we didn't even finish them. But I thus coined the phrase of the night "The Leaning Tower of Pizza". This betch aint even a study abroad-er and I saw some history.

4. My co (guy version of me on board), from 3 years ago as well was there! We've stayed friends after our term together, and were even friends before. It's always nice seeing familiar faces and bringing up old mems. Because I'm an old person thats why...

5. I also dyed my hair and I am OBSESSED. For once.

6.Give me snaps or money or a pat on the back because this is the first weekend since 'nam that I have not driven into the city. Although it's where I'd ALWAYS rather be, it's probably a great thing to save some gas moolah where I can.

7. As far as this week (or the next two) go/goes...I am waiting for hopefully good news. So keep your fingers, toes, and hair(?) crossed. Anything to send good vibes, you superstitious people.

Sundays are for brunching.

What's a blog land? Or blog post. Heck I haven't created one of these babies in ages. HEY. I'm Rachel. I enjoy getting caught in the rain (when its sunny and only drizzling), long walks on the beach, and beer and wine when I can get my hands on it. That's all you need to know I guess.

ANYWHO...

I don't even think my giving of thanks day deserves a post because it was spent hanging over the glorious toilet in my hotel room royal thrown. Yup you guessed it. Unlike every Amurican gaining the weight, my weight was on the run away from me. WHY. I really like stuffing too. My thanksgiving was spent in bed watching movies on movies on movies. So there's that.

Sunday came and I was finally home. A day in the city for me is like a three year old in a candy store. Classic never wanting to leave let me throw a tantrum or two. Or more like why did I never choose to go to a city school? Everything is so convenient!
