What I instagrammed VS What I'm doing

The fact that multiple people have sent me THIS article says a lot about who I am. Basically this is an article on the fact that I know too much about wasting time staging and editing the perfect instagram picture but in reality my life isn't nearly as glamorous. The best part of all this? I'd like to say it's true. But in my defense I CANNOT stomach the fact of a picture with bad lighting and an ugly filter. Easier said than done but not everyone can be as artsy as the chosen few *hairflip emoji*. For all you nosey fans, trust me I love being a nosey reader sometimes too...this ones for you homegirl. Oh...and homeguy because I'm sure theres one or two of you floating around...

1. #FOODPORN
What it looks like...
Post shopping spree I decided to devour the most magnificent item that would look best with a filter from a chic restaurant. I was obviously in a rush to go do some Birkram Yoga but it's okay...I think I'll sit in my car for a few and let this bad boy digest.

What really happened was...
I was hitting up some errand returns and stumbled upon a new #BRUNCH place that offers take out. Hello, score! I was on a solo outing so why would I sit there (during peak times) and stuff my face (mess and all) for a party of one? Don't think so. Also I was in a rush to get to point B, so at point A Rachel's belly was very stuffed. P.S: My iced coffee had too much cream in it....le vom.

2. MORNING ROUTINE
What it looks like:

Waking up with the sun. Turn on coffee pot. Scramble through my rings of the day *pending*, about to read the next greatest novel (maybe true), and some GLAMOUR. Soon followed by running out the door, sunnies in hand.

What really happened was...
I was deciding where to put my monogram (via the comfort of my bed). Got up, went downstairs to get coffee (made by...my dad...Thanks dude<3), sat at my desk, awkward left arm hovered over my right arm to get the perfect arial view. Back to bed. Pick filter. Clean up mess later.

3. JUST A SMALL TOWN GIRL....
What it looks like: I have ample amount of coffee dates in said park where I go to sing with the musicians, break dance with the strange crew, and croissant in hand.

What really happened was...
I just got done an interview and walked x amount of blocks to my favorite park just be-freaking-cause. Right after this picture was taken, I spotted an old ex and his new arm candy and proceeded to the nearest trashcan. Sorry, TMI freak the freak out and call everyone in my phone list to call me the heck down.

4. I WOKE UP LIKE THIS.
What it looks like: I have a fabulous photographer who enjoys taking time out of his day to photograph moi.

What really happened was:
Things going through my mind include: This photo was supposed to be a flop. Do I look awkward? Should I smile? Well, damn who let me be a fashion blogger. This will probs look better with a filter, right? Ohhhh I like this one maybe I should put it on the blog. I planned this outfit because I'm finally not wearing black. Let's go get 7/11. My photographer is my brother.

If you want to stalk more (it's really okay I wont judge), check out my other pretty instagrams here. Welcome to the land of the weird and home of the artsy. All are welcome

Celfie Is The New Black

Alert the fashion police, I just pulled a stunt. Not any super bowl scandal (read: nip-slip), or uploading pictures and having 'razzi chase after me as I chop off all of my hair (I WOULD CRY). If I had a solid standing bucket list (you see I always make one then totally forget about it and rarely try to achieve things on there), this would be on it and as of late, it would be marked with a cute little check (or sticker, if I'm honest). THIS is synonymous for wearing something that doesn't involve an ounce of black (alright Mrs. Technical, the writing doesn't count).

With finally getting my feet wet into the world of a fashion blogger (despite my hashtag OOTD on insta, always) I decided to invest in a nicer camera, a tripod, and too many macchiatos to count. Whenever I'm driving, I'm always scouting out locations and am so tempted to stop, take a pic, chose a filter, and voila! I actually did that the other day (see here)! I need to realize that I cannot always count on endless nagging and bribes to my brother for a 5 minute shoot. Little does he realize that he actually has a good eye for pictures AND after the first two minutes he actually enjoys it and it ends up being 5+ a few good minutes and memories.

In other news, here's what I'm looking forward to:
1. My birthday...in 21 days!
2. School year starting up again. Meaning plaid, the crunch of leaves, and fall (which I'm starting to enjoy? I guess this is what growing up does to ya). Who doesn't love the feeling of new school supplies?
3. Expanding my inspiration board!
4. Read this (#Jetset): The Vacationers
5. Miss Teen USA (Aug 2nd) and State pageant season! Can't wait to see who will take home the jersey state crown and follow in Emily Shah's footsteps...
6. Orange is the New Black: Season 3 (I know I know, I still have a year *grunts*)

What are you looking forward to?

Now or Never.

I'm guessing my theme of the week is all about finding inspiration through other outlets than my own crazy noggin. I turned to Vogue magazine the other day, and today? It's all about my pinterest feed.  I'm truly blessed to be a millennial because all the different resources we have today. But then again, ladies in the early 1900's were definitely NOT concerned with if their skirt looked poofy-er than their besties...atleast I don't think so.

As you can tell from all social media spaces of mine that the verdict is I'm not to sure how to wear other colors besides black. Black goes with anything, any season (even when your swimming in your own sweat in the sunlight at a baseball game). However, I'm definitely a fan of colorful attraction in other places and things.

Chinese Laundry shoes that just debuted? I need to save cash money for that one. They are perfect wedges and like all Chinese Laundry shoes, they are as comfortable as your sunday morning slippers. Scouts honor.

The black striped shirt just GETS me in every single way possible. The beautiful thing about that baaaaaad boy is that he can tag along almost always. He sports my two favorite things: no color and visual pleasing things for this Miss New Booty.  (source)

However I'm actually pretty sure I'm dying (like, literally #MillennialProblems) about the Zelda book. My sister keeps recommending in and that is on my To do list behiiiind my historical novels, this book that I'm currently reading, AND my other Zelda stories.

Being that everything on my Summer pinterest board is inspiring me in one shape and doodle or another, the bike, the hat, the flowers -- all make me think of summer. So if there is a way to transport myself into that photo (NOT BY PHOTOSHOP), let me know stat. When I picture summa summa summa time, I see that. Don't you?

WHY DID MY MOTHER GRACE ME WITH THE PRESENCE OF NOT UNDERSTANDING HOW TO WEAR COLOR? I think it's okay until I see how pleasant people look in colors like orange and red and green. But I did come across this boho/hipster/fabbyfab dress via NecessaryClothing.com.

Now or Never. If you take a step or two back, have a few sips of some pinot grigio, and think about that phrase, it's more powerful than meets the eye. As cliche white girl as I'm going to sound, I think this summer for me is all about taking chances to further my career and outlook on the person I want to become. If you choose the never in the heads or tail games of life then you are simply stuck with regret and that just flippin' sucks. So get to the now and get 'er done (just like that last chug of ya wine glass).

Summer is HERE!

It's 136% true that summer is here and I put on my excited pants about it. Here's what I've been up to!

Interviews in the city, my favorite place to be. Post interview, I had had had to hit up my caffeine fix and I admittedly got lost in the city, since it's in a part I don't explore often. I truly felt Carrie Bradshaw like circa Carrie Diaries. Intern life in the city? Truly a dream. Also holler at houndstooth dresses, always a plus.

Although I was #blessed with a shopping spree at a local mall, you can always find me in TJ Maxx. Granted, I just wanted to get in the dressing room to take an OOTD because starbucks. Good reasoning, right?

Top: H&M

This past weekend was spent down the shore. I can't say it was the definition of relaxing since I was there for other purposes that did not include relaxing as one of the things on my to-do list. However, I got burnt unintentionally (which will turn into tan YAY...don't get mad). However, I did pick up some awesome shots you can find on my instagram, and got a totally awesome TBT gift of a polaroid camera! I cannot wait to use it on my blate tomorrow!

The other day, I hit up J.Crew and their amaze sale. However, of course, I picked up the only black item J.Crew would ever house. I ended up with an 8 dollar baseball cap, and couldn't be happier.

What have you been up to?

Summertime Sunblock

I've gone through plenty of phases, both cute and definitely the ones that could have been avoidable. You know which ones I'm talking about...the times when I wanted to be goth/scene but was still weirdly afraid of going into hot topic because these people had strange piercings and I didn't, yet somehow my mom was all about it. She's a people person so of course she became besties with people with holes in their ears (which I luckily never wanted).

Anyway, being that it's summer, I'm into the hat phase. Both baseball and floppy. If you're a girl, you know that pictures at the beach during sunset make the world go round. Luckily, my mother blessed her daughters with having artsy genes just like her. It would be a real bore, let me tell you, if my sister and I had completely opposite interests. So yes, I'm HASHTAG BLESSED that my sister and I are similar (maybe because I have a weird fascination of wanting to be just like her? #LittleSisterSyndrome).

Hat: J.Crew
Dress: H&M
Sunnies: Franchesca's

Get your hat phase on and get like me (minus really awkward sun burn)

XOXO, Gossip Girl.

Blogger girl here. Your one and only source into the exciting and (most days) boring lives of a lifestyle blogger. Recently spotted was Sunshiney Rach giving the fashion world a try. Despite being in bed by 10PM most days and drooling over everything lonely boy does, she has somewhat of a fashion sense.

I think we can all admit that we would love nothing more to rock plaid and grunge like Little J, Headbands out the wazoo like B, and of course how the effingg hell does S get her hair to look like she rolled out of bed but definitely with a side of sexy. #SheWokeUpLikeThat. At the end of the day, I would be fine with being me and dating a Humphrey...Dan, preferably. However, unlike our favorite TV drama's we hate saying goodbye to at the end of each episode, we can only do our best to attempt to be half as awesome as them, right? Right.

While reaching season 2 episode 1 of Gossip Girl (Don't worry I'm rewatching), Everybody and their moms (okay, minus B's/Lonely Boy's) ship off to the H to the Amptons for some booze cruises, crazy flings, rekindling loves, and networking the shit out of the White Party (we see you, Jenny). Besides the yearning for white dresses (since it's after MDW...obv), we were holding our horses for Dan to show up from his one night stand flirty faze to greet S at the party in her Grandpa's suit from the '70s. Can you say yum? I can...but I think you get the picture by now -- I love Dan Humphrey.

A few years and some ago, it's inevitable they forgot my invite to this grand event. If I was invited however, I would definitely be sporting some of these. Even if I was never meant to attend (and stalk the living day lights out of Lonely Boy), I can at least help you find a dress that a dude will be drooling over you for.

(left to right): Tobi, H&M, H&M, Cotton On,  Chinese Laundry (shoes), H&M, Nordstrom

To rock Chinese Laundry shoes? You don't need to compete in pageants to wear them (although they are a sponsor of Miss Universe Organization)! Enter to win a pair for free here via ThePageantGuy.com!

You know you love me.
XOXO,
Sunshiney Rach

Flower power holler back | Summer 2014 trends

SUMMER IS HERE...as I say writing this outside of starbucks in 60 degree weather shivering in a tshirt and jeans. If you're like me (gd bless you) you'll be hitting up a few summer concerts, days in the city, aaaand BEACH DAYS. holler mofuggin back. Although I am no fashion major/connoisseur/expert/Dr.Phil of fashion...I think I have a few solid words of wisdom for summer trends.

If you've been checking up on tumblr/Pinterest lately, FLOWER CROWNS are where it's at. Truly fab for a great fashion photoshoot, summer concert/festivals, or just to have people check you out at the local starbs/fancy shmancy dinner place admiring how they wish they were dressed like you.

The great thing about flower crowns is you can turn it into a little DIY with a bestie or two or five, or hit them up at almost any girly fashion store (i.e charlotte russe/H&M...etc..) and buy them by the billions.

What's your summer must have?

Traded in the puppy t's for some sweaters

The transition between winter and spring is awkward. Like puberty, you never know what to wear, do, or shave. It's true. Talking about the big Motha Effer Nature, this transition should have happened ages ago so shout out to global warming. Have you ever seen the Ice Age movies? They are number one on my shit list, just saying. Even in the hot days of August (my birthday - same as my man POTUS), I find myself dressed like a goth from head to toe. Days I'm not goth, I'm a white pony. Completely unintentional. Living the good life.

Hat: Etsy Shop ($15)
Top: Old Navy
Bottom: PacSun
Shoes: Old Navy
Rings: Old Navy

I basically used to be a huge hater of everything Old Navy. Sureeeee growing up they had american flag shirts (great for Murican Holidays and to sport in the summer while eating a firecracker popsicle), and also shirts with dogs and cats on them. During middle school, you would be  judged in a middle school-y way when wearing old navy and gap, so we switched over to short shorts and overly revealing tops when we had 0 cleavyyy. Now that I'm an aspiring 20-something-to-be (dat good good life), I chose the more adult look. Sadly, Old Navy no longer sells shirts with screen printed puppies... would have been great for a theme party! I went in there, wanting to buy everything the other day. Luckily, I learned the ways to shop via my parents, and hit the clearance racks first. Sure it's the awkward period between winter and spring BUT YOU CAN WEAR WHATEVER YOU WOULD LIKE...WHEN YOU LIKE. Because I said so and you know so. I found the cream colored sweater (that also comes in navy) for 11.99. And those boots? Yep, those bad boys too! I've been wearing those shoes since, so just shy of a week. Easy to slip into, even more stylish. And those rings? How in the damn world could I have turned down those bad boys...for $2.99? You tell me the answer to that. If you say you could, you are wrong.

I ordered my monogram hat during the summer, FOR ONLY $15 (Etsy is a lifesaver..suck on that Marley Lilly), and can wear it with anything - like in a photoshoot for my blog. Did I mention I had to pay my brother 20 (he says 25) just to take my pictures that day? I thought sibilings got along and shouldn't have to be bribed c/o dat cash money.

When I'm not being a Kylie Jenner wanna-be, I channel my inner mommy blogger and hit up Old Navy. Ya know, similar trends and all.

Wear white pants because you can

Tanktop: American Eagle
Pants: TJ Maxx
Shoes: Sperrys
Lipstick: Rimmel Kate 90
Watch: Arvowear
Glasses: Charlotte Russe

Can't say I dress nicely ever day, but when I do, taking pictures of my outfit are usually involved. I definitely never was a fan of white pants growing up because g-d only knows the stains that could cling to those babies. But on that day, the sun was out, I was heading to the city, so a spring/summer pick me up outfit was in order. Can we talk about how my sister and I both wore shades of blue and stripes. That is sister telepathy, my friends.

If anyone has a problem with white pants before memorial day (best holiday weekend ever), send them my way.

Things I'm loving on as of late:
+Walking into Trader Joe's for the flowers and taking pictures of almost all of them. I wonder if they get that a lot, or they just thought I was strange.
+I have an announcement on Monday - pretty darn cool if I say so myself. So, stay tuned.
+Guys are stupid and I think I could write a billion and ten more posts about that. Hpmh, maybe I will. (not actually loving that guys are stupid...maybe just because I get good posts from it)
+Jcrush is the new tinder, fyi.
+James Franco is undeniably sexy and I wonder what picture I have to comment on of his to get him to love me.
+The weather has been stellar recently, until today. I did NOT sign up for 40 degree weather in April
+EVERYTHING FROM OLD NAVY. I mean I used to judge their weird cat/dog/america t-shirts but now its basically my heaven and I want to shop there. Heyyo boots for $11.99

Be in the best possible place you can be!

Vest/Heart bangle: ShopLately.com
Watch: Arvowear
Sunnies: Charlotte Russe
Top: TJ Maxx
Jeans: Pacsun
Flats: Target

I've about 2/4th succeeded with fashion posts. Meaning I'm really getting good at bribing my brother to take pictures for my blog, even when he throws a fit about it for twenty minutes and I'm like hi it could be over by now. Things I still need to work on include but not limited to: a good location and sunny weather. I mean my garage is a work of art, I know...

Shoplately.com was awesome enough to provide me with some of their amazing products! While searching, I came across the cutest beanies, coats, and rompers (and we all know how much I love rompers). I ended up going for accessories, because that's something my style needs to do some SERIOUS studying with. So how did I do?

In other news...
Have you read Whit's #ProjectSelfLove posts? They remind me of high school. Meaning, I was in a youth group where almost every damn event (they still do to this day, trust me I help plan them) usually involved some soft Jack Johnson (i.e Banana Pancakes), dimmed lights, candles in the shape of a flower, and a shit ton of markers/sharpies/writing shenanigans that float your boat. Usually it would range from writing on mirrors, paper crowns, and candle holders. We would write our own flaws on them (that could be washed/taken away) and then pass around in a circle, each girl one by one writing about what positive attributes were in each girl. Many of us would take it seriously and not just write the generic pretty, happy, fun, loving and would expand on that. Some of us, depending on the person would write our inside jokes involving hot guys, the time we were asking random guys at the beach for their numbers, and other things that just never made sense but only to you two. You know what I mean? So as we were passing our item of such around, we were either too caught up in writing to our best friends that we love her, or worrying (if were new to the group) what people will say about us. Granted no one has the guts to write mean things since it's all about loving - but its also we are always worried about how others will perceive us.

But I really think it matters who you are around, when you look at you. When I'm with a group of friends, I can be loud. I don't mind at all being the leader of the group, making decisions and making people laugh. When I meet a guys friends for the first time? Chances are I'll feel insecure, which leads to them judging me more (which is a shame and why he has gone by by anyway). I was worried the people he was close with would think I'm weird for not talking, and it turns out, he was just as worried which made it SO much worse. I knew he was worried and I didn't feel like I was up to par with his standards. I was insecure because I didn't feel cool/"good" enough. But what does that even mean?

At school this semester, I keep to myself. I truly put on my Jewish American Princess (Jappy) persona and think I'm better than everyone at my community college. I'm only there to learn and leave to come home and take care of my own life that doesn't involve making fun of others in class like most people still somehow do. I was partnered up with a girl in my sociology class and the question was how do our school mates perceive us? She told me I was quiet, thus making me insecure, again. I mean, I know I'm quiet you truly don't have to tell me but thats not who I am when I am me. When I'm in my zone.

When I'm in my zone, I can make anybody laugh, feel confident (usually because of what I'm wearing), and just have a blast, and frankly, thats the life I always want to live - A happy one!
Feeling down about yourself? Put on your hottest outfit (no judgement if it includes scandalous things), do your hair, and take some selfies because DAMN MA YOU LOOK GOOD.

Be in your zone - it's the best place you can be!

I was compensated for this post, however all opinions of Shoplately.com are my own.
